Jeff (pictured above left) and Jose (above right) have built their friendship around a commitment to doing good for their community through creative hospitality.
It’s just one example of how Do For One relationships can create a ripple effect of social change—reaching far beyond the interaction between two people.
What begins as facing inward toward each other often shifts outward, shoulder to shoulder, working together for the common good.

Inward, Outward, Upward
“I thank God for bringing Jose into my life,” says Jeff, who’s known Jose since 2022.
Jose once said, “I feel like a new person.”
But these words weren’t spoken directly about his friendship with Jeff.
Rather they reveal something greater:
the depth of what’s possible when friendship creates space for transformation...
setting off a ripple effect that moves inward,
then outward
…then upward!
Drawn to the welcoming community at Jeff’s church, Jose began attending. A few years later, he made the decision to get baptized.
“Jeff and his wife, Telisa, invited me to their church. I felt welcomed.
I decided to get baptized there.
Jeff was there; I trusted him.
He told me that baptism is about being reborn. It’s like a birthday.
I don’t feel depressed or anxious anymore. I’m sleeping better now.
I feel like a new person.”

Over the weekend of May 4th, Jose and Jeff laced up for our annual fundraiser run on Roosevelt Island—helping us reach our $20,000 goal by the end of May.
