Session 1: Laying The Foundation

This session examines the Judeo-Christian belief in the inherent worth of all people as the foundation for human rights. In contrast, we explore modern views that diminish the value of devalued groups by measuring human worth against shifting cultural standards such as wealth, productivity, and status.

The key takeaway is to recognize unconscious biases toward specific groups and individuals, clarify what you truly believe about the value of all human life, identify contradictions between your stated beliefs and actual mindsets, and take intentional moral action.

“The truth hurts like a thorn, at first; but in the end it blossoms like a rose.”
